Photography allows us to capture all of the important events in our lives.  By using pixels, a digital camera stores the picture image on the memory card inside of the camera.  Several different brands of digital cameras are available online and in retail stores.  The purchase prices vary from as low as $50 up to $1000 or more.  Currently, there are three different types of digital cameras to select from.

The first type of digital photography camera is called the digital consumer camera.  These cameras are great for beginners because they are very easy to use and lightweight.  They come with built-in lenses and have features such as zoom control and a self-timer.  These cameras should mostly be used to take pictures of stationary images because it does not have ability to take quality pictures of fast moving objects.

A second type of digital photography camera is the digital singles line reflex (DSLR) camera.  These types of digital photography cameras allow the photographer to take a variety of pictures because they come with interchangeable lens.   Pictures of dark images and fast moving images are easier to take with this camera.  Both automatic and manual features are available as part of this camera.  The DSLR camera is heavier than the digital consumer camera but it takes very good quality pictures.  Some people may view this as a downfall.

The last type of digital photography camera is the digital prosumer camera, which is mostly used by professional photographers.  It is called a prosumer camera due to the fact that it is a professional camera available at a consumer price.  This camera and the DSLR camera are similar in a lot of ways.   But the difference is that these cameras offer better image resolution, control features and designs than the other types of cameras.  Also this camera cost more than the others.

You should first look at each type of digital camera and determine which one would be better for you to purchase.  Other things you should look at are the cost, the features, the battery life, and the type of camera accessories that are available for the camera such as memory cards and card readers.   It is recommended that you take the time to read any reviews and do your research before your purchase.
