More and more people are becoming interested in wood pellets all the time.  You can use wood pellets to heating your home through a wood pellet boiler or wood pellet stove and the results will be every bit as good as that gas boiler you are probably so used to relying on.  For one it is more cost-effective than the fossil fuels you are probably used to so you will save on your heating costs each month.  The wood pellets used to produce the fuel are so small and compact that they are easily portable and completely safe and natural too.

Anyone can make their own wood pellets right at home.  The process of wood pellet production is incredibly simple so anyone can follow it.  To get started you will need to get yourself a wood pellet making machine.  These machines are quite inexpensive especially if you buy them used.

The price of a new machine is relatively inexpensive but if you want to save even more there is the option of buying the machine used.  Once you have your machine ready to go you just need your supplies and you have a range of options for what you can use.  You can concoct your own medley of whatever you want, anything from sawdust to grasses.  It must be fibrous biomass material and the best to use would be softwood and hardwood as these will help you create the most high quality wood pellets.

One of the most important tips when making your own wood pellets is to make sure the moisture content in the wood is between 10-20%.  If the moisture content is not within the desirable range which is between 10-20%, the wood is going to be too dry or too wet and the pellets will not turn out.  Some materials you can use to make wood pellets have a binding material in them to start with but others do not.  You may also have to add a binding material in but this depends on what supplies you chose to use.

You may need to resize your supplies before putting them into the machine.  The machine will basically take care of all the hard work and in no time at all you can start producing mass quantities of these wood pellets.  You are going to save yourself time, money and hassle and will also be doing your part for the environment.  A small bundle of wood pellets can last longer than piles of firewood and is also going to save you money and be less polluting on the environment.
