If you have found someone that you are serious about and who you could see yourself having a long-term relationship with that is great.  However, there are a few tips on building a relationship that will be important to keep in mind.  One is to make sure that there is trust between both people in the relationship.  Building a relationship means knowing that you can trust the other person even if they are away for a couple of days.

If you do not have that trust there then you cannot build the relationship into anything long-term.  Especially if one person in the relationship is in the military or otherwise has work that takes them away for long periods of time, you are not going to make it through if you do not have trust.  To build a healthy relationship there also must be communication from both sides.  Both parties need to be willing to talk honestly with each other.

Proper communication is a key part of any relationship.  You do not need to feel obliged to come home and give every aspect of how your day went because some people like to be mysterious too, especially men.  If you want to be with someone for the long-term, they should be more than your lover they should be your best friend.  It should feel comfortable and easy talking to them about anything that makes you happy or is bothering you.

The only way that you can truly get to know someone and see whether they are the right one for you is if you spend quality time with them.  Sure you may like someone when you only see them once a month, but if you really want to get them know and make your relationship stronger you are going to need to start spending more quality time with them.  Whether you go to the movies, bowling or anything else where you get to spend time with each other, you are building a relationship.  Even just a day or two through the week going on a date or having dinner at home will help make your relationship stronger and give you the chance to get to know your partner that much better.

It does not have to be much or be an expensive outing to make it worthwhile.  Have a picnic lunch at the beach, go to the movies or bowling whatever you want to do if you are spending it together that is what counts.  If you are not willing to work at it, chances are that this relationship just does not mean enough to you.  Any couple can build their relationship and last forever if they are really in love and willing to work at it.
