Everyone hopes to find that special someone that they can spend the rest of their life with.  Being in a loving, healthy relationship can be the most wonderful thing in the world.  There are a lot of people out there however who are in a very unhealthy relationship.  There are a few situations in which it would be considered as an unhealthy relationship.

Any relationship that has domestic abuse involved is absolutely unhealthy.  No matter what may have happened or how in love they both may be, no one should be mean and abusive towards another and especially not if they are in a relationship with that person.  In most cases men are the abusers but the rate of female abusers has increased significantly over the past few years.  In this type of unhealthy relationship the best thing to do is just get out.

The only way to help an abuser is to get away from them immediately.  Every couple argues here and there and has hurdles to get over in life.  Even if you think they are your soul mate the only way you are going to be able to make things right is if you spend some time apart.  They can get the help they need and learn why they are using violence to try and deal with what they are feeling.

There are actually some situations in which both people are abusing each other and this is obviously the most unhealthy relationship of all.  Once this person has dealt with their own issues and is no longer being violent, you can consider whether or not you still love them and if you want to get back together with them.  Another example of an unhealthy relationship is when one or both parties are abusing drugs or alcohol.  It does not matter if one or both parties are abusing drugs or alcohol, the point is that this is not a healthy situation and you need to get out of it.

You may want to consider, if you are in a relationship with someone who was on drugs or alcohol the first time you met them, as though whether or not you would enjoy being with them when they are sober.  No one should feel obliged to stay in an unhealthy relationship.  This is a very unhealthy relationship because drugs can turn your life upside down and turn people into monsters.   If you are ever in an unhealthy relationship make sure that you at least do something instead of just sitting by and not doing anything about it.
