When your child is off school for a whole two months over the summer their brain activity drops significantly.  They are not doing homework and going to class so they are not having to concentrate and use their brains as much as they did in school.  To prevent this from happening there are simple things a parent can do to keep their child’s brain active. There are ways that you can keep their little minds sharp over the summer until they are back in school.

Of course you do not want to ruin their summer break by telling them they have to sit and do homework every day while they are on vacation. There are other ways to go about it however and for instance you could use math games and puzzles to keep their brains active. There are lots of different math games and puzzles that would work here and the best part is they are fun so the kids will actually be interested in them. They will probably even forget they are doing work and learning if you keep it fun.

This game helps children to focus on their math and problem solving skills.  You can find this game over the Internet and it is free to play which parents are going to love even more.  There are even life lines and other familiar aspects of the game so your child probably will not need a lot of instruction to play.  It is a lot of fun and easy to get swept up in.

Even those search a word books that you can find are great for stimulating the brain and keeping it working.  Crossword puzzles use problem solving and memory. Memory games that we remember from playing when we were young help even older aged children.  You could even play a basic memory game.

Then one player starts by picking up a card, seeing what number they have and trying to find a pair for that number.  If you miss and get the wrong number you put both cards back down where you found them. You can even have board games like Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble, as these are problem solving games as well.  These are just a few examples of the various games and puzzles you could play with your kids and this ensures they are still learning but that they are also enjoying themselves while they learn.
