It is important as parents that we do everything we can for our kids.  That includes teaching them what we can in our spare time, even if they are in school too.  Even if you schedule in one night a week to spend playing these games, it will more than pay off. Interactive math games offer lots of wonderful benefits that parents should be aware of.

One of the main benefits of interactive math games is that you can use them on very young children. Even if your kids are only preschool age you can introduce them to some basic games. This way they will develop a sense of number as early on as possible and can begin playing more advanced math games. The whole purpose is that the games are fun and so they keep kids interested and sometimes they do not even realizing that they are learning at all.

The game Let’s Make 13 can be played by any child that is able to count.  There is the Let’s Make 13 game for one.  For this game you take a deck of cards, which should contain 52 cards, and then you deal them out into piles of 4.  In the end you should have 13 different piles and you should only see the top card on each pile.

Then all the child has to do is take one or two of the top cards from any pile and make 13 with them.  Kings are 13 and so they would only need a single card if there were a King and other than that they would need to find two that equaled a total of 13. You only need three cards to play and you set them up face up so the kids can see them, then choose a target card.  Another game that is lots of fun is called Street Hustler.

It takes only a few seconds to play.  All you need is three random cards from a deck and then show them face up to the child and have them choose one of the three. This game is more about probability than anything but it helps kids to learn their numbers.  You can make it more challenging if you want, by having them guess two out of three cards rather than just one.
