It is important to get children started in subjects like math as early on as possible.  The sooner they start learning about math and incorporating it into their life, the better they will be to retain the information.  Of course you do not want to make things too challenging when you are dealing with preschool children because they are quite young. This is perfect for kids who are just learning to count and this is a single-player game with a purpose of getting children to add their cards up to a total of 14.

You only need basic deck of cards to start playing this game and you shuffle the deck and deal the 52 cards into 13 different piles of cards. Each pile should therefore have 4 cards and the point is to start looking through the sets of cards and find those that add up to 14. Remember that aces are 1, jacks are 11, queens 12 and kings 13 so you should be able to find a lot of options. You can only use the cards that you find on top, and so if you find a King on the top of one pile you can take that and discard it.

They could add up two different cards that make 13 or if there is a King on top obviously they would only need the single card.  It is similar to Solitaire in the way it is played but also quite different and more suitable for younger aged children than adults.  This is a great game for younger aged children and works on their math as well as problem solving skills.  Keep the child playing until either all the cards are gone or they are not able to make any more moves.

They do not even realize that they are learning when they play this game which is the best thing about it.  It is a simple game that we are used to seeing magicians use. You will only need three playing cards along with a paper and pencil.  Then you want to pick a target card which is the card the children have to remember, flip the cards over and start mixing them around.

Turn the cards over, shuffle them around for a few seconds and then put them back face down side by side.  Then the children are able to guess where they think the target card is. To make it a bit more challenging you can always change the number of cards to two and so they will have to guess where two cards are instead of just one.  There are so many other fun games you can try too that the kids will love.
