There are enough struggles that regular couples have to go through, but when you are in a military marriage it can be especially difficult.  There are so many extra things that you need to deal with when you are married to someone in the military.  A marriage can work when one or both people are in the military, as long as they are willing to work at it and stick together.  You can absolutely make a marriage work as long as you are willing to work at it.

One tip you should remember if you are in a military marriage is to have an understanding of what each other is going through.  If you are the one at home you may be feeling worried for your partner and sorry for yourself and these are normal feelings.  The same goes for if you are the one in the military but above all else it is important to remember that you are always going to be there for your partner no matter how long they are gone.  There are ways to stay in touch such as writing letters and making phone calls.

If you are married to someone who is in the military there are ways to stay in touch.  You can write letters and talk to your loved one on the phone when they are in the military but this is usually the only form of communication because they are away on the base.  If they are deployed this usually means that they are going into combat and you will not be able to talk to them for quite a while.  This is the most difficult part of a military marriage, because neither person really knows when or if they are going to see the other again.

One of the best tips is to join a support group where you can meet others in a military marriage and see how they are dealing with the struggle.  Joining a support group can be helpful, as here you will find other people going through the same situation as you.  These support groups are fantastic because you get the chance to meet others in the same situation as you.  It can be relieving to see that others are having the same struggle as you.

Above all else, trust is going to be needed if you want your marriage to last.  Trust is important for any relationship but when you are not able to see your partner or even talk to them for such a long time, you need to know in your heart that you can trust them.  When you are forced to live apart for such long spans of time you need to believe in your partner and your marriage and know that your partner feels the same way.  As long as there is trust, dedication and love any military marriage can make it through the hardest struggles.
