Although orchids are visually stunning flowers, they are not that easy to take care of. But, that is not to say that it is an impossible task. What you have to do however, is search for tips that can help you grow orchids the right way. Here are some of the guidelines that can help you answer the age-old question, how do you grow orchids properly.

The first thing that you have to keep in mind is that lighting is everything. Natural sunlight is the best way to keep your orchids healthy and happy. However, too much natural sunlight can also cause your orchids to dry up. This is why you have to be very particular about the season that you’re in. If it is summer and the days are hotter than usual, it is best to move your orchids away from indirect sunlight. Don’t keep them in the dark though, just put them in a place where in it can receive indirect sunlight.

You should also be extra careful about watering your orchids. Orchids actually prefer a moist and humid environment since they are tropical plants. However, refrain from watering them too much. Remember that although they thrive in a moist environment, too much watering can also drown the roots thus causing your orchids to die. If the places where you are planning to grow orchids in are not exactly humid, then you might want to consider using plant mister.

When it comes to potting your orchids, make sure that you know the type of orchid that you are growing. This is because there are certain types of orchids that require you to change their pots every year or so for them to grow properly, longer. Most of the time, orchids grow best if you put them in a small pot or container.

Also, you have to consider the mulch where you’re going to grow orchids. There are mulches that are specifically for tropical plants so it is best to scour the places where you can buy these mulches before you actually start planting.

Lastly, there are also plant foods that are specifically made for orchids. You might want to check them out before you plant anything.
