Before you can master a new language you have to take on the alphabet. This is the first step for beginners to any language because you must know how to pronounce each different letter before you can start putting together words and phrases.  German is one of the easiest and most fun languages to learn and to get started you want to focus learning the German alphabet. The letter B for instance is pronounced bay in German.

The letter D is pronounced day and F is eff, just as with the English alphabet. It can be hard to learn the German alphabet if you are just learning by yourself because you cannot be sure if you have the pronunciation down right. The best way of doing it is having a tutor work with you in person or going to school for it. There are even some online courses where there are instructors who teach the students via webcam.

This is the only way to tell if you are pronouncing things correctly and determine where your weak areas are. Once you have gotten the hang of the alphabet it will make a lot more sense when you go to use words in the German vocabulary. You can begin learning how to put German words and phrases together so you are actually making sense. Some people catch on more quickly than others so have patience if you feel that you are learning slowly.

When you feel comfortable and feel that you are fluent in the German language you can put yourself to the test. For instance you could head out to a German store or even talk to a friend if you have one that is fluent in German, and start up a conversation. You will pretty much be able to tell whether they can understand you or not right away. This is not only a great way of testing out what you have learned thus far but as well you are using your new skills in a social situation.

For some it is easy to learn all the information and details behind a language but for most pronunciation is what they tend to have the most problems with. It can take years before you are actually speaking the language fluently and not sounding as though you are forcing it. For some people it can take years before they are actually fluent in a new language so you must have patience. Some people are so good at speaking their new language that you could never tell they were not actually German.
